Ever since 2000, I have embarked on 4 great journeys in support of the People With AIDS Foundation by cycling 660km from Toronto to Montreal on the Friends For Life Bike Rally. 2011 will mark my fifth anniversary year. In order to celebrate this event my good friend David Storey and myself have committed to being co-captains of a fantastic team to journey to Montreal on our bicycles. Our journey will have us training for months in advance, fundraising and supporting our team to ensure safety and a great time.
In order to facilitate this charitable cause I am asking for your support and invite you to donate online at :
I hope to raise $6000 this year and appreciate your generosity. I will have long ride ahead of me but will do it with pride and conviction. (and a lot of fun!)
Over the last several years several people have asked me to tell them why I ride.
- I ride because I can.
- I ride in memory of my good friend who has HIV.
- I ride because it is good exercise.
- I ride because AIDS is not over.
- I ride to make friends.
- As the number of people living with HIV increases, so does the need for the services provided by PWA, the agency producing the Friends For Life Bike Rally.
Together, we can help ensure that our children and their children will not experience the same level of loss that we have faced in the past few decades.
Your support and partnership in my fundraising efforts contributes to allowing the PWA to continue to provide critical services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
The success I have enjoyed in my fundraising on behalf of the PWA is because of YOU.
THANK YOU...from the bottom of my heart.
About the Bike Rally
Since 1985 over 19,500 people have tested positive for HIV in Toronto, over one quarter of Canada's HIV-positive population. The need is great and Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA) provides accessible, direct and practical information and support services, such as food, health promotion, income support and treatment programs. The Friends For Life Bike Rally supports PWA and helps to raise almost half of its annual operating budget.
Over 400 people will embark on the 660 km journey from Toronto to Montreal over a week in July 2011. Some of our riders are skilled cyclists; however, the Bike Rally has men and women of all backgrounds participating, from the ages of 18 to 70, united in their passion to support their friends and loved ones. In its thirteenth year, the Bike Rally is one of the most well-organized, safe, and inclusive events in Canada.
